CPRE secures funding for 12 hedgerow projects in the East Midlands
We’re delighted to confirm that we have secured funding for 12 hedgerow planting and restoration projects across Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire as part of CPRE’s local Hedgerow Heroes project.
The Hedgerow Heroes project, which also supports CPRE’s national hedgerow campaign, has already enabled the restoration of over 20km of hedgerow up and down the country. We’re proud to be contributing toward increasing our hedgerow network by 40% by 2050, as recommended by the Climate Change Committee to help achieve carbon net zero.
Confirmed hedgerow projects in Lincolnshire include:
- Mareham Pastures Local Nature Reserve, Sleaford, Lincolnshire NG34 7JP
- Dunston Playing Fields, Duston, Lincolnshire LN4 2HE
The twelve East Midlands locations cover a variety of areas and landscapes, from parks to nature reserves and leisure facilities.
Local CPRE groups in each area will be directly engaging with communities and volunteers to ensure their involvement with these practical conservation projects in their local green spaces. In Nottinghamshire, we’ll be linking up with local experts and ecological consultants as well as collaborating with Lincolnshire County Council and Dunston Parish Council.
The project, which has been corporate funded, will see a total of 2km new hedge planted with ongoing management plans to ensure that they flourish for generations to come. More details to be announced soon.
